The aim of the VRC is to raise the level of integration and impact of research in personal robotics in the UK by

- Assembling an interdisciplinary UK research community in a virtual research centre (VRC) focused on the theme of personal robotics.

- Setting up a hardware and software environment that supports the operation of the virtual research centre, and making this software available to the wider research community.

- Engaging the research community in the identification and discussion of key research issues in personal robotics, and summarising these discussions in a yearly report.

- Facilitating the production of high quality joint publications and grant applications.
